I decided to start decorating my living room for the holidays several years ago. I would read, listen to music and watch television in my living room, but it served no other purpose. I asked myself, what would make me enjoy this space more? After thinking about it one day, a thought came to me. Why not decorate this area for every holiday? Holidays make me smile. Decorations are festive and uplifting. So that is how I started this hobby. It's now a space I enjoy year round.
This past weekend, I put up my Halloween decorations. I love Halloween. During this time of year, you see pumpkin patches popping up, aisles loaded with candy, haunted houses and more. As I buy items for my collection, I always try and think about what encompasses the spirit of the holiday and what I love about it. When I look around the room, my heart skips a beat. My decorations come from a number of stores, such as Grandin Road and Department 56. I also love shopping at Michaels, Pier 1, Etsy, Yankee Candle, Williams Sonoma and Pottery Barn. My collection has grown.
