Augustinus Bader | The Rich Cream Review

Not Sponsored: I reviewed Augustinus Bader The Lip Balm and gave you some background on Augustinus Bader himself & his brand. Now, I would like to share my thoughts with you regarding Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream (Bergdorf Goodman, Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Neiman Marcus, Net A Porter, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Selfridges). I have super dry skin. I love a good moisturizer. I need a good moisturizer. I've reviewed many. Below are my thoughts, based on my experience. Let's get started.

Augustinus Bader has two types of moisturizers: The Cream (ideal for combination to oily skin types, blemish-prone skin, and to refresh skin in more humid climates) and The Rich Cream (ideal for normal to dry skin, more mature skin types, and colder, drier climates). I purchased The Rich Cream because I have super dry skin. Both moisturizers are offered in three (3) sizes. I purchased the smallest size (15mL). I would encourage you to do so as well, to see if it works for you (before committing to a larger size). Both creams are the same price. The Rich Cream promises hydration, nourishment for the skin, reduction of the signs of aging, reduction in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and hyper-pigmentation, promotes elasticity, skin barrier function, prevents transepidermal water loss, protects against environmental aggressors, and has TFC8® technology. That's a lot of promises! HaHaHa Let me share my thoughts. This moisturizer is thick and it is heavy. It doesn't spread easily across the skin. I had to pump, and then apply it to my forehead. Pump and apply it to my left cheek. Pump and apply it to my right cheek. Etc. Once on the skin, it not only looks but feels heavy. I experienced the same issue with Glossier's Future Dew, but it absorbed into my skin within a few minutes. The Rich Cream does absorb into the skin, but rather slowly (like overnight slowly). I can't imagine wearing this during the day. Only as a night-time treatment. On Augustinus Bader's website, they show before and after pictures/videos of people that have tried it for 27 days. So I decided to do the same. Pictures are worth a thousand words. To my eye, as I was using this cream (moisturizer), I couldn't see any noticeable differences. I said to myself, this stuff is not working. So I snapped a picture of myself after using this product for 30 days and surprisingly I did see some changes. The pores, especially between my eyebrows and forehead, seemed smaller & smoother. My under-eye area looked lighter. My face looked plumper and fuller. Overall my skin looked smoother. The negative is, old acne scars did not fade and besides the discoloration under my eyes improving, no other areas of discoloration improved. So, I'm a little stumped on this one. There were some improvements (nothing earth-shattering), but I dislike the heaviness of the product. See how it works for you. I still have a lot of product left, so I'll continue trying it. Maybe do another 30 days and snap another picture. Give you an update. I'll give it a Sweet rating for now. Stay tuned...

The best moisturizers for me have been, Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base (face moisturizer + primer), Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Eye Base (under-eye moisturizer + primer), Bobbi Brown Hydrating Water Fresh Cream, Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream, and when I need something seriously heavy-duty in the cold winter months Glossier Futuredew Oil Serum.

  1. It's great you noticed a difference over time so it's worth the investment! I think I wouldn't like it much - I prefer lighter creams and serums that are easy to massage into my skin :)

Hope that you are having a good week! First week of school here for the kids :)
