Not Sponsored: I've been wanting to put together a list of MY FAVORITE skin & body care products for the longest. These are products that I have not only reviewed over the years and given a SUPERSWEET RATING, but that I personally purchase on REPEAT ... OVER and OVER again because they truly work. I have a combination of dry, sensitive and reactive skin. Many products do not work for me, but these have proven to be absolutely AMAZING. It has taken YEARS (since 2012, when I began blogging) to try various products, to see if they would work. Skincare is so important, because without proper skincare your makeup will not lay right. I have finally gotten to the point in my life, that I feel confident going out in public with a bare face and even minimal makeup. I wanted to share the products that get me compliments on my skin. Everything is expensive nowadays, so taking the guesswork out of it for you has always been my goal. That's why I love blogging. I can share my experiences with you. Click on each product for a full review.
1. Clinique Take The Day Off - I have tried many makeup removers, but Clinique's Take The Day Off makeup remover has proven to work the best for me. First, it's a balm (in solid form). So, it's easy to travel with and use. It doesn't irritate my skin. I can slather it all over my face, including my eye lids and it doesn't sting. It takes makeup off with super-ease. (Saks Fifth Avenue, Harrods, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales)
2. REN Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask - If you want a mask that will both moisturize and soothe your dry and/or sensitive skin, look no further. This is my go-to mask whenever my skin needs a boost. It's cool when you apply it. It moisturizes your skin without being heavy. Your skin will feel so soft when you rinse it off. It's amazing. (Ssense, SpaceNK, Harrods, Bloomingdales, Revolve)
3. Dr. Dennis Gross Ultra Gentle Daily Peel - Saying the word PEEL to someone with dry or sensitive skin, may make them cringe! I've had my fill of catastrophes, that have led to severe redness, burns and irritation. Well, exfoliation does not have to hurt! I use Dr. Dennis Gross Ultra Gently Daily Peel sheets once a week and they exfoliate my skin GENTLY. After using them, I see a difference in how my makeup lays and how my other skincare products work more effectively after using them. The only thing that will hurt is your pocket book. These are not cheap, but well worth it. (SpaceNK, Net A Porter, Nordstrom, Harrods, Bloomingdales)
4. Sara Happ Sweet Clay Lip Mask - I'm a HUGE fan of Sara Happ lip care products. Whenever the skin on my lips need exfoliating, I reach for a jar of her lip mask. It's pink. It feels a little funny on the lips. You'll look funny as well. But it is SO WORTH IT! Your lips will thank you! Excellent exfoliation. Super smooth lips. It gets the job DONE! (Macys)
5. Sara Happ Lip Scrubs - There's an assortment to choose from (peach, pink grapefruit, brown sugar, vanilla bean, seasonal selections)! I have tried a gazillion lip scrubs and none have the perfect consistency as her lip scrubs. She has crafted an excellent balance of proper exfoliation and moisture for the lips. I wish she would come out with more "flavors", but these are my go to's for proper lip care. (Nordstrom, Macys)
6. Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Balm - I LOVE THIS LIP BALM! What's so fab about it? It nourishes, heals AND moisturizes your lips. It's transparent! You can wear it during the day. You can wear it overnight. It won't compete with your lipstick. Apply this lip balm and then your lipstick. You will have super luscious lip smacking lips. It is THE BEST! (Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, SpaceNK)
7. Vaseline (for lips & feet) - Yep! Good ole Vaseline, you guys! It gets the job DONE! The Vaseline brand has gotten with the program you guys. They have an assortment of lip care products that provide lip therapy in their iconic jar, tin and even stick form (I've only tried the jar). Vaseline exfoliates your lips, provides healing and moisture for your lips. Packaging wise, Fresh is more sophisticated, but Vaseline works just as well (at least at night). Also, if you suffer from cracks on the heels of your feet and want SMOOTH SOLES, slather on Vaseline (heels) ... apply a sock ... let it work its magic overnight and your feet will look AMAZING (super soft and healed cracks). (Bed Bath & Beyond)
8. Flowery Swedish Clover Foot File - I learned about this foot file, whenever I received professional pedicures. Foot files do not have to hurt. This one is so gentle, but SUPER EFFECTIVE! It sloughs off the dead skin from the bottom of your feet with EASE. Wash it and use it again. I love it! It can be purchased at Sally's and also Amazon.
9. Skintimate - Skintimate Shaving Cream has a Skin Therapy collection that includes shaving creams for Dry and Sensitive Skin. These have been dermatologist tested. I find all of their shaving creams to be exceptional. I personally love their Coconut Delight scent. I really need to try their Sensitive Skin Razors. They contain 4 blades and guarantee fewer nicks and cuts. (Bed Bath & Beyond)
10. Sally Hansen Cuticle Rehab - Do your nails & cuticles (both hands and feet) get dry? A couple of years ago, I noticed that my nails started getting dry. That's when I tried Sally Hansen's Cuticle Rehab. It's a tube of gel with a brush. It's really easy to use. You just brush it on your nails and work it in. It makes your nails look so nourished and moisturized. Your nails will look spankin' new! (Sally Hansen)
11. REN Evercalm Gentle Cleansing Milk - This is my #1 face cleanser of choice! My mom was so impressed with my results that she started using it as well. I now see a difference in her skin. It cleanses my skin effectively without any harshness or irritation. It has reduced my breakouts. You won't think its doing a thing, but your results will speak volumes. I haven't found another cleanser that compares. (Ssense, Bloomingdales)
12. Soap & Glory Breakfast Body Scrub - I still laugh when I recommend this body scrub, because I've tried so many expensive ones and I always revert back to this one. It has been a staple in my beauty routine since 2014. It has the RIGHT CONSISTENCY! It effectively exfoliates (without being abrasive or harsh). It moisturizes (without being heavy, greasy or oily). When you scoop it out, it may feel heavy but it rinses off so cleanly. It will make your skin feel super smooth. Every year, I get the dreaded skin peeling from my hands (season's change). It sloughs off all of that dead skin with ease. I love this stuff! (Target, Walmart, ULTA, Walgreeens, Skinstore)
13. Fresh Kombucha Antioxidant Facial Treatment Essence - Plump! PLUMP! PLUMP YOU UP! I splash this on my face, neck, shoulders and decollete as soon as I get out of the shower! It hydrates your skin! It plumps it up! It minimizes fine lines! It makes a world of difference. That is why it is a skincare staple of mine. (Harrods, SpaceNK, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom)
14. Coola Sun Silk Drops Organic Face Sunscreen - I have to protect my face from the sun, but I don't want a heavy sunscreen on my face or for it to interfere with my makeup application. That is why I love Coola's Sun Drops. Coola knows sun care! They should! They're out of California! They not only provide UVA/UVB protection, but also mitigate HEV light (blue light), IR and Pollution. I also like their Refreshing Water Mist Sunscreen. (Neiman Marcus, Space NK, Revolve, Anthropologie, Nordstrom, Macys, Bloomingdales, Harvey Nichols, Tillys)
15. Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base & Eye Base - These two are CULT FAVORITES! If there is a sale on them, you better act QUICK because they always sell out. I LOVE LOVE BOTH OF THESE PRODUCTS! They are labeled as skin primers, but TRUST ME they are EXCELLENT ... no, let me rephrase that ... SUPERB MOISTURIZERS! I slather VE Face Base all over my face, even lips and neck (don't forget your neck when moisturizing). I then slather VE eye base under my eyes. SO GOOD! Your skin will drink it up! It will love it! Have you tried these yet? Jump on the bandwagon! If you need something more lightweight, let me suggest Bobbi Brown Hydrating Water Fresh Cream and Hydrating Eye Cream.
Face Base - (Harrods, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus)
Eye Base - (Bloomingdales, Macys, Nordstrom, Harrods, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman)
Water Fresh Cream - (Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Macys, Saks Fifth Avenue, Harrods)
Eye Cream - (Bloomingdales)
16. Archipelago Botanicals Oat (not soy) Milk Body Lotion & Body Wash - My skin loves this stuff! Talk about soothing and nourishing! It's creamy dreaminess for your dry skin. I use it year round. Non-greasy. Non-oily. Not heavy. Its amazing for your skin! It's my FIRST CHOICE when it comes to lotions and body wash for dry skin. (Archipelago Botanicals)
17. Farmhouse Fresh SWEET CREAM Body Milk (sweet cream vs. sweet milk) - This body milk is a staple of mine as well. Especially during the warmer months. I know that sounds crazy, but its not heavy! It smells SO GOOD! It's also nourishing to my skin, moisturizes and feels great. I love sweet cream! (Farmhouse Fresh)
18. Soap & Glory Smoothie Star Body Buttercream - This is a body butter that I like to alternate with that also provides superb nourishment and moisture to the skin. You just smell CLEAN and FRESH when using this. The fragrance is almond and vanilla. (Target, ULTA, Walgreens, Walmart)
19. Aveeno Daily Moisturizing and Aveeno Sheer Hydration Body Lotion - Aveeno just makes excellent lotions for dry, sensitive, eczema prone skin. If I run out of my Archipelago or Farmhouse Fresh (waiting for them to have a sale), I just run to my nearest drugstore and pick up a bottle of Aveeno. It's a classic staple. Their Sheer Hydration formula is excellent for the warmer months and if you live in a humid climate like I do. (Drugstores)
20. Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Nude Cream - This body cream is also really good! I wanted to present another excellent fragrant free option (Archipelago, Aveeno, Sol de Janeiro). It contains colloidal oatmeal, to soothe and calm skin. You can really feel it going into your skin. It makes your skin feel really good. (Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Sol de Janeiro)
21. Lancome Renergie HCF Triple Serum - It's hard finding a really good serum. And if you need a serum that acts FAST and you want to see results FAST, then put this on your list! This has an excellent triple action formula (3 chambers). It contains hyaluronic acid to plump your skin, vitamin c + niacinamide to reduce dark spots, brighten the skin's appearance, and reduce wrinkles/fine lines and ferulic acid to protect against free radical damage. (Bergdorf Goodman, Nordstrom, Harvey Nichols, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue)
22. Farmhouse Fresh Will Dew Probiotic Milk Balancing Facial Mask - I really love REN's Ultra Calming Mask (listed above), but another mask I love is this one by Farmhouse Fresh. It's organic, gluten free, contains prebiotics and probiotics. It's very soothing and calming. It's just that you have to use it in a timely manner and it is in a jar. But it's a really good mask. (Farmhouse Fresh)
23. The White Company Natural Sleep Nourishing Body Cream - If you want a nighttime body cream that moisturizes AND helps you to sleep, look no further than to this one. This body cream contains chamomile, clary sage and lavender. It also contains shea butter, aloe vera, jojoba oil and vitamin E. Talk about a dreamy SLEEP! (The White Company)
24. Marvis Strong Mint Mouthwash - You do have skin inside your mouth! Sometimes I get a dry mouth. An excellent mouthwash that both hydrates the inside of your mouth and also gives you superbly fresh breath is Marvis Strong Mint Mouthwash. (Revolve, Ssense, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales)
25. Biotene Mouthwash - Another good mouthwash that SUPERBLY hydrates your mouth is at your local drugstore. It's called Biotene! It's SUPERB! (Drugstores)
26. Sunday Riley Good Genes - Periodic exfoliation of dead skin cells on your face is key. I mentioned Dr. Dennis Gross Ultra Gentle Daily Peel Pads above. Another option is Sunday Riley Good Genes. Either or is as expensive as hell, but BOTH work great on dry and sensitive skin. With Sunday Riley, you would leave on overnight for it to work its magic. With the Dr. Dennis Gross you can use anytime, just make sure you apply a sunscreen afterwards to protect your skin. (SpaceNK, Harvey Nichols, Bloomingdales, Macys, Revolve, Olivela, Anthropologie, Neiman Marcus, Free People)
27. Fresh Vitamin Nectar Glow Juice Antioxidant Face Serum - In the winter months, if you need a super nourishing serum for your skin, then this serum is the one. It contains coconut oil, vitamin c and e, beta carotene and fruit extracts. Your results are a natural glow and plumped up skin. (Nordstrom, Harrods, Neiman Marcus)
28. The Cottage Greenhouse Carrot & Neroli Hand Cream, Cucumber & Honey Hand Cream, Grapefruit & Blood Orange Body Lotion - The Cottage Greenhouse makes some really good hand creams and body lotions. These were the 3 that I tried. All provide EXCELLENT moisture, dry quickly but leave your skin feeling nourished. Your biggest dilemma will be picking a scent.
Cucumber & Honey (Macys)
Grapefruit & Blood Orange (Macys)
29. The Cottage Greenhouse Orange Blossom& Honey Mask - I was very impressed with this face mask. It tightens while on, but when you rinse it off you're left with nourished, moisturized and soft skin. (The Cottage Greenhouse)
30. Burt's Bees Overnight Intensive Lip Treatment - Another intense overnight lip treatment other than Vaseline (as mentioned above) is by Burt's Bees. It's super hydrating! Has a Girl Scout Thin Mints Cookie scent. And will super-moisturize your dry lips. (Burt's Bees)
31. Mad Hippie Vitamin A Serum - Mad Hippie's Vitamin A Serum is truly a targeted serum. It targets fine lines and dark areas on your skin. It really works. Very effective. (Mad Hippie)
32. Philip B Lavender Hand Cream - This hand cream is so dreamy! Literally! I'm not even a fan of lavender (scent) and I love this. Creamy. It will make your hands super soft and they will feel moisturized. Superbly relaxing! I love this stuff! (Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue)
So as you can see, I invest a lot of money into skin, body and oral care (I try to always wait for sales). Skincare truly makes a difference. I get compliments all the time. I'm 50 years old and I do not look 50. It's because I've always maintained a skincare regimen. I started really young with Mary Kay products. My skin has changed a lot over the years, forcing me to try and use new products. I have to do a little more nowadays. So, take care of your skin (don't forget to moisturize your neck and decollete) and you will age gracefully as well.
