Drunk Elephant Protini Powerpeptide Resurf Serum And Protini Polypeptide Cream Review

Not Sponsored: Sephora had a lot of deluxe sample products that I was interested in, so I used some of my points to purchase them. I'll be reviewing these products for you, both this week and next week. So far, I've reviewed Biossance's Squalane + Omega Repair Cream and Fresh Beauty's Tea Elixir Skin Resilience Activating Serum. Today I would like to review Drunk Elephant's Protini Powerpeptide Resurf Serum and Protini Polypeptide Cream for you.

Drunk Elephant's Protini Powerpeptide Resurf Serum and Protini Polypeptide Cream are not new products, but I have never tried them. I have tried many Drunk Elephant (see reviews) skincare products and my favorites are their Slaii Makeup Melting Butter Cleanser, LaLa Retro Whipped Cream Moisturizer, TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum and Virgin Marula Luxury Facial OilSo what is this duo (serum & cream) all about? They're pretty much about resurfacing and improving your skin's texture, which I'll explain more in a minute. They can be used separately or together. Let me discuss each product for you below.

 Sweet-Bittersweet-NotSweet

Drunk Elephant Protini Powerpeptide Resurf Serum

Acids for your face!?! When I first heard about acids for your face (skincare) years ago, I'll be honest ... I was scared. As someone who has sensitive, dry and reactive skin, acid is the last word you want to hear. But acids have become my best friend. By using them, they get rid of (slough off) dead cells, make makeup application easier (prep skin and makes your makeup lay better), reduces fine lines and gives your skin a healthy glow. You'll hear the words LACTIC and GLYCOLIC ACID a lot (see link below). This serum contains LACTIC ACID and a host of other key ingredients:

  • 10% lactic acid - Derived from the fermentation of sugar, lactic acid is an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) that exfoliates the skin by dissolving the bonds that hold dead cells together. Lactic acid is considered to be a milder, more hydrating AHA.
  • 11 peptides - help to boost skin’s self-renewal, binding moisture to skin and plumping, firming, and restoring bounce.
  • It also contains a Multi-Amino-Acid Blend, Snow Mushroom Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium PCA, Tocotrienols, Squalane, Green Tea Seed Oil and Virgin Marula Oil (which you can read about on their website).

So how do you use this stuff? You gently shake up the formula and apply it to clean, dry skin (avoiding your eye area). This can be applied to your face, chest and back of your hands. This serum provides GENTLE chemical exfoliation. This serum can be mixed DURING THE DAY with C-Firma Day Serum (brightening & firming), AT NIGHT with F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Masque Hydratant (plumps and restores), and Protini Polypeptide Cream (firming)(which I'm about to review below).

This is a really good serum and exfoliator! The results are immediate. My skin felt smoother, more vibrant and exfoliated. I experienced no adverse reaction. I have been reviewing skincare products on my blog now since 2012. I've tried a lot of products. So now I'm at the point of being able to COMPARE which ones I feel are best. Even though this is REALLY GOOD, there are two brands that I feel are better (they are listed in my skincare favorites). They are Dr. Dennis Gross Ultra Gentle Daily Peel, which has 3 AHA/BHAs (reviewed here) (Net A Porter, Nordstrom, Selfridges, SpaceNK) and Sunday Riley Good Genes Glycolic (Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, SpaceNK) or Lactic Acid (Anthropologie, ASOS, Bloomingdales, Free People, Macys, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Olivela)(reviewed here)(). You can read more about the differences between Glycolic and Lactic Acid here. None are cheap! Sunday Riley is the most expensive. For me, it's not about price but what works.

Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream

Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream is a firming moisturizer. This is really important to know, because it is not nearly as moisturizing as LaLa Retro Whipped Cream Moisturizer. FIRMING, SKIN TONE AND TEXTURE are the keywords here. Its ingredients include peptides, growth factors, amino acids, and pygmy waterlily. Its also suppose to reduce sun damage, lines and wrinkles. This can be used both day and night. It can also be mixed with any Drunk Elephant serums or moisturizers. While I used it, on it's own there were no bells or whistles for me. However mixed with the serum above it was a good combination. My skin did feel firmer. I will have to put this to the test a little further and try mixing it with the LaLa Retro Whipped Cream Moisturizer. My long-term readers know I love Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base as a moisturizer. It's superb, but it doesn't provide firmness. So I would be interested in trying this combination (just to see). Of course, this would be expensive as hell. HaHaHa But you never know. I may try it next year. If so, I'll update this post.
