Add Some Edge To Your Style

Fashion is one of the best forms of self-expression we have. If you want to make it known to the world that you are someone who is interesting and unexpected; a free spirit, then adding some edge to your style can be a good way of signaling that, and ensuring that your fashion choices don’t end up being so safe that they become boring.

If you do want to add some extra edge to your style, here are some good ways to do it:

Invest in a vintage classic

If you want to add some edge and not end up looking like everyone else around you, then one thing you simply must do is trawl the vintage boutiques and thrift stores for at least one vintage piece that really speaks to you.

For example, if you are a bit of a free spirit, then investing in a vintage 60s boho dress will give you an edge whenever you wear it, or if you have embraced your inner goth, a vintage leather jacket will look great when worn with anything. Of course, a vintage handbag or vintage shoes are even better because you can wear them with anything to add instant edge.

Swap plain tees for graphic ones

An easy way to add some extra edge to your style is to swap out plain tees for band shirts and beach graphic tees that show the people around you more of your personality by showcasing your favorite bands or showing off the fact that you love to surf or whatever. Graphic tees automatically demand more attention, so when you want something extra, they are always a good choice.

Add unexpected accessories

A really easy way to add some extra edge to your style is to simply pair accessories in a more unexpected way. For example, if you are wearing a smart shift dress and Mary Janes for work, then adding a velvet choker will take things up a notch, or if you’re wearing leather pants and boob tube, wearing a classy silk scarf around your neck will do something unexpected. Think about contrasts and contradictions and use accessories to play up all sides of your personality and it will always be edgier than simply dressing in an expected way.

Make it black

There is no denying that, when it comes to fashion, black is often seen as edgier than any other colors. If you dress in black jeans, a black t-shirt, and a black leather or denim jacket, you will look effortlessly cool and edgy, especially if you top off the look with a pair of cool black sunglasses. So, adding more black into your wardrobe is a pretty basic way to making people think your style is edgier than it might actually be based on the clothing itself.

So there you have it! If you want to stand out more and add some extra edge to your style, there are so many things you can do to make it happen.
