Dr. Zenovia Hyaluronic Acid + Peptide Serum Review

Not Sponsored: I used some of my Sephora points to try a deluxe sample of Dr. Zenovia's Hyaluronic Acid + Peptide Serum. I'm interested in any skincare product that plumps-up the skin, so I thought I would give it a try. I had never heard of Dr. Zenovia Skincare. She's a well respected and accomplished board certified dermatologist from California. What I found interesting was, she is a hormonal skin expert for every stage of life (adolescent, mature skin etc) and her products target those problems. This serum has a gel-like texture. Because of its consistency, it's heavier than serums I've tried. When applied to the skin, it leaves a clear but sticky-tack (it adheres to the skin). I kept waiting for it to sink-in (dissipate); the most it dries down is after 20 minutes, upon which you still have some tack on your skin. None of this hurts. I experienced no adverse reaction. But you know its there. The silver lining to all of this, the skin on your face will plump up and your skin will look & feel firmer (more taut). However, the problem I had was with makeup application afterwards. Because of this tack, it conflicts with makeup or anything you put atop it. So you can use it at night, but it will probably be a problem for you during the day. What's in her formula? Several things: Fractionated Hyaluronic Acid – Draws moisture to replenish hydration levels deep within the skin; Peptide Complex – Helps to visibly firm, plump and tone skin for a youthful, radiant appearance; REG-ulate360 Complex™ – Featuring medical-grade actives including Resveratrol, Vitamin E, Green Tea, Bakuchiol, and a cutting-edge, plant-derived phytoestrogen known as Genistein, this proprietary technology helps restore the appearance of hormonally imbalanced skin to an optimal healthy state; Curated Antioxidant Blend – Contains Green Tea Polyphenols, Caffeine and Vitamin E to help soothe, calm and nourish skin; Aloe Vera – A medical-grade ingredient containing antioxidants and Vitamins A & C to help soothe and calm hormonally-imbalanced skin; Bakuchiol – Powerful antioxidant; known as a “natural retinol”. Personally, I don't like going through all of this to achieve plumper skin. I rather splash-on Fresh Beauty's Kombucha Antioxidant Facial Treatment Essence (Harrods, Neiman Marcus, SpaceNK, Nordstrom) and achieve the effect I want instantly. For what you have to go through, this doesn't plump enough for me.

  1. Oh it's a shame it's tacky after applying - I use my current hyaluronic acid serum in the daytime so that would be a no for me, I'd hate having it feel like there was something on my skin.

Hope you are having a great weekend :)
