When it comes to giving yourself the ultimate in gifts, you should be looking to make sure it is things that are going to make your life just that little bit better. Big treats for yourself are all about making that commitment to yourself to achieve your goals, to get where you want to be - and to be who it is you want to be.
Is it always easy? No, but it isn’t always as hard as we think it is going to be, either. Here are some things that you can do for yourself that certainly come under the umbrella of big treats - and even more so, are a re-commitment to yourself.

The BIG Things
As parents or caregivers, household managers, and those with side jobs or full time work, it can be tough to commit anything to yourself, which is why it has become more important. Here are a couple of places that you might want to think about:
- Who inspires you, and who do you inspire
- When was the last time you got to be creative? And if you had time, what would you do?
- Have you seen the things you want to see? What is still on your list?
- Are your relationships fulfilling or draining? Can you afford to cut the hurtful ones loose?
- Is your lifestyle enjoyable, and what do you want?
Those are big questions, but often, when we start answering them, we can begin to see areas that we want to improve and, in some cases, how we can do it.
Start making a list of things that you want to commit to - and why.
The Gesture
Rather than leave it until you have achieved what you want, it can be better to open the whole thing with a big treat for yourself. It should be something that every time you look at it, you are reminded of what you want to do in your life - and why.
A picture, a mug, a bag, a pair of boots, a piece of tech, or even diamond engagement rings are all visible and valuable reminders of the commitment you’re making to yourself and your future.
Getting something to keep you going from the start is a powerful tool - it doesn’t have to be big, though; you can just as easily get a diary or a planner, too.
The Flexibility
One big mistake that people make when they are trying to achieve their goals is that they leave themselves no room for setbacks, mistakes, or compromise. And while there are some cases in which you need to stand your ground - you need to offer yourself grace to make whatever circumstances work for you.
Learn your boundaries and start to make them work for you and what you want to do. A little grace will go a long way in keeping the pressure off on the way to getting what you want.
Gratitude
One thing to always keep in mind as you work towards what you want is that each time you reach something, write it down and hold on to it. Be grateful to yourself for what you have achieved, to those who have helped you get there, and any tools that worked, too.
