AG Care Vita C Strengthening Shampoo Review

Not Sponsored: Hey Everybody! The AG Care hair brand has been on my wish list for awhile. Their products are made in Canada. Development is done in Vancouver, BC. The brand is vegan, cruelty free, free from sulfates, parabens and a list of other nasty things. Their products come in aluminum and recyclable packaging. They also offer refill pouches. They give back to the program One Girl Can. Isn't that wonderful!?!

I saw this brand on ULTA's website and decided to try a few things. I picked up their Vita C Strengthening Shampoo and popular Fast Food Leave-On Conditioner. I knew I wanted the conditioner (it's gotten great reviews), but was a little puzzled when selecting a shampoo. When looking on ULTA's website, I saw a small selection of shampoos (Vita C, Sterling Silver, Colour Savour and Apple Cider Vinegar). None of which I really wanted for my dry hair. I kept saying to myself, where is their MOISTURIZING shampoo? Thinking this was all they had, I chose Vita C. Well my friends, this company DOES HAVE A MOISTURIZING SHAMPOO, but it is not offered on ULTA's website. You must go to AG Care's website. If you go to their website and choose DRY for Hair Type, they will suggest Fast Food and UltraMoist Moisturizing as Conditioners and they offer a XtraMoist Moisturizing Shampoo. Vita C is recommended for damaged hair. Which still holds true for me, so let me start my review.

The Vita C Strengthening Shampoo helps hair with elasticity and strengthening. AG Care's description is very simple, "Gently cleanse, strengthen hair and lock in moisture. This sulfate-free shampoo contains vitamin C and plant-based squalane. Massage into wet hair and rinse." The first two times I used it, I experienced extremely low lather. The formula is really thick. No matter how much I wet my hair, it just didn't work into a lather. Weirdly, the third time I used this shampoo, it worked into a full lather (which I prefer). So, I don't know if the ingredients had not made its way to the top of the bottle or I had to get to a certain point in the bottle. But something happened. The shampoo feels really good. It's creamy. It cleansed my hair and my scalp felt clean. My hair felt clean (not stripped). The scent of the shampoo is citrus-y. The only problem with citrus scents, is that they can get a little artificial. This does a pretty good job with scent, but I feel it could be better. Personally, I feel this shampoo is better for someone who has a bit of oil to their hair. I feel it's too much for dry, thin or older hair on a daily basis. However, this would be great for someone with oily hair. My hair felt clean and stronger, but I can't use this everyday. It would strip it too much. So there are a lot of ifs, ands and buts with this shampoo. My recommendation is to go to THEIR website and see what formula is best for your hair type. I am going to order the moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. When I try them, I will post my reviews here.

Next I will review Fast Food ...
