Shani Darden | Lactic Acid Exfoliating Serum Review

Not Sponsored: Hey Everybody! I always like to review a skincare collection at the beginning of the year, so for 2025 it is Shani Darden. In 2023, I reviewed Shani Darden's Hydration Peptide Cream (Revolve, Sephora) and ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! I made a reel on Instagram and people were thoroughly impressed with my results. I continue to use it as a day moisturizer and makeup primer. It makes my skin and makeup look beautiful. With such Supersweet results, I vowed to review other products in her skincare collection. So, here we go! Let's get started!

Shani Darden Lactic Acid Exfoliating Serum (Revolve, Sephora). This Lactic Acid won Allure's 2024 Best Serum Award. So I was super-excited to try it! My favorite Lactic Acid is from Sunday Riley, called Good Genes (SpaceNK, Revolve, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Macy's). I've been using Shani Darden's Lactic Acid and I'm just not getting any kind of results. My skin doesn't feel softer after using it. I don't seen any improvement with my fine lines. There's just NOTHING. I don't see any difference. So, I tried using it on the back of my hands and I don't see any difference with my skin there either. Maybe I got a bad batch? I don't know what's going on!?! I'm just truly disappointed. I love lactic acid because it's a gentle form of exfoliation that's really good for people with sensitive and reactive skin like me. Let me share what is on her website: "A powerful-yet gentle 9% Lactic Acid Serum that brightens and refines dull and congested skin so you can wake up to an instant glow. Dual exfoliating acids—including Shani's go-to Lactic Acid & Gluconolactone (PHA)—smooth, refine and re-texturize while an exclusive Soothing Complex calms the skin & minimizes irritation."

Here's a list of ingredients:

  • 9% Lactic Acid (AHA) polishes away dead skin cells to reveal smoother, brighter, more glowing skin.
  • Gluconolactone (PHA) exfoliates, evens tone, improves clarity and hydrates.
  • Exclusive Soothing Complex contains four molecular weights of Hyaluronic Acid plus Aloe Vera and Green & White Tea Extract to soothe skin and minimize irritation.

Full Disclosure: I won't be using this Lactic Acid unfortunately. It did absolutely nothing for my skin. Didn't hurt it, but I experienced no results. I wouldn't recommend it either. I hope I just got a bad batch, but I'm not willing to pay for another to try again. HaHaHa I'm only giving it Bittersweet, because it won Allure's award in 2024. So something is off. I recommend Sunday Riley's Good Genes! I'm currently trying Fresh Beauty's Lotus AHA Gentle Resurfacing Serum (Youth Preserve Resurfacing Dream Serum) and having great results. So stay tuned for my review!

Shani Darden | Intensive Eye Renewal Cream With Firming Peptides Review

Shani Darden Intensive Eye Renewal Cream With Firming Peptides (Revolve, Sephora). I REALLY LOVE THIS EYE CREAM! Am I shouting? Yes. It's super creamy! It feels so soothing to my eyes! You can place it underneath AND over your eye lids. The cream stays put without feeling heavy or overbearing. I've been using it for about a month now and have had some great results. Let me tell you a little more about this eye cream from her website: "A luxurious, all-in-one formula that melts into skin, infusing the delicate eye area with 9 age-defying actives. Potent peptides plump and firm, silk tree extract lifts and brightens, squalene protects and hydrates, and niacinamide helps fight fine lines, crow's feet, and dark circles. Eyes are left visibly firmer, brighter, crease-free, and makeup-ready."

It contains the following ingredients:

  • Silk Tree Extract helps lift eyelids, minimize under-eye sagging and fade dark circles.
  • Pea Peptides & Darutoside support skin's natural elasticity to firm and brighten.
  • Niacinamide fights the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Ceramides & Squalane lock in moisture while helping protect the skin barrier.
  • Shea Butter & Cucumber Extract hydrate, soothes and calms skin.

Full Disclosure: I'm using both this eye cream and comparing it to my favorite Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Eye Base (QVC, Dillards, Harrods, Nordstrom, Sephora, Macy's, Neiman Marcus). BOTH are really good! BOTH are about the SAME PRICE! I really can't say if one is better than the other. They both give GREAT HYDRATION, help with darkness under the eye and fine lines. You can't lose using either one! I will say, the Shani Darden makes the under eye skin feel FIRMER. So that's my opinion guys. They're both really good :)

Saint Owen Society Monroe Black Sunglasses Review

Disclosure: I was sent a pair of Saint Owen Society Monroe in Black Sunglasses by Saint Owen PR to try. All opinions in this post are 100% my own.

PR Sample: The lovely people at Saint Owen PR asked if I would like to try a pair of their sunglasses. What they didn't know, was my black sunglasses had recently fallen apart (I wore them to death), a month ago. HaHaHa I was ecstatic to get a new pair! When I perused their website for a pair, I thought this brand was so edgy and fun! Saint Owen has a number of styles in various colors, but I knew I wanted another black pair. I decided to go with a pair called Monroe (cateye sunglasses). It's offered in black and tortoise styles. Check out my last picture and Instagram video I made! Yes, eat your heart out! They are absolutely gorgeous and comfortable! Here's some more information on this particular style:

Blurring the lines of standard femininity, this standout cateye seamlessly merges curvature with hard angles, creating a silhouette both lovely and fierce.  The subtle detail of the pyramid studs add a touch of edginess.

  • Gloss Black Acetate
  • Black and Clear Crystal Temple
  • Silver Pyramid Studs
  • Grey CR-39 Lens
  • 100% UVA/UVB Protection
  • Anti-Reflective Coating on Lens
  • Handmade in Italy
  • Biodegradable and Sustainable Italian Acetate
  • Prescription Friendly
  • Size: 54-17-145

Saint Owen has amazing sunglasses, jewelry and apparel for both men and women! You should definitely check out their website. They use eco materials, ethical designs and they give back! Get to know the creators behind the brand: Val Sanders and Michelle Haner. These twin sister's story is AMAZING! I'm impressed and I'm currently checking out their other creations.
